맥캘란 12년 셰리오크

지인짜 오랜만에 구입한 맥캘란 12년 셰리.
한 3년 전 쯤 부터 건방져지기 시작하더니 에지간한 15년 숙성 위스키들 가격 선을 넘어가려고 하는 시점부터는 괘씸해서 아예 쳐다도 안봤었는데...

요즘 조금이나마 수급이 되는지 여기저기서 보이기 시작하고,
(가격은 여전히 살짝 건방지지만) 데일리로 마시던 친구들이 바닥을 보이던 터라 눈에 보인겸 오랜만에 마셔볼까 하고 구입했다.

오랜만이지만 역시 맥캘란은 맥캘란.
여타 증류소들의 수많은 엔트리급 위스키들 중 단연 확실한 존재감을 느낄 수 있다.

불쾌한 부즈도, 어려운 맛도 없다.
밸런스도 좋고 마무리 역시 도수나 숙성년수에 비하면 준수하다.

현 시점 엔트리급 위스키 중에 이만큼 부드러우면서 셰리 캐릭터 확실한 제품이 몇이나 되려나....

물론 예전 구형들보단 약해졌다고는 하지만,
그래도 맥캘란은 맥캘란.

Macallan 12 Sherry, which I bought for the first time in a looong time.
It started getting cocky about three years ago, and once it was about to cross the price line of most 15-year-olds, I got so annoyed I wouldn't even look at it...

Lately it seems supply has improved a little and it's popping up here and there,
(the price is still a bit cocky, though) and my daily drinkers were running low, so since it caught my eye I figured I'd drink it again after a long while.

It's been a while, but Macallan is still Macallan.
Among the countless entry-level whiskies from other distilleries, it definitely has a presence you can feel.

No unpleasant booze, no difficult flavors.
Good balance, and the finish is decent too for its ABV and age.

How many entry-level whiskies right now are this smooth while having such a clear sherry character....

Sure, people say it's weaker than the old versions,
but still, Macallan is Macallan.

But still cocky.😤
For that kind of money! There are plenty of alternatives these days, you Macallan punks!
