마치 일일이 손으로 쓴듯한 라벨 사인과 배치 번호들.

병도 은근 클래식하게 둥글둥글하고 주둥이도 커서 시원시원하게 들이붓고 싶게 만들고, 뚜껑도 큼직해서 뭔가 더 있어보

인다.
이름도 싱글몰트판에 그 흔한 글렌머시기머시기도 아니고 아벨라워(Aberlour)다.

거기에 또 아부나흐는 CS제품인데 그래서 그런지 아부나흐(a'bunadh)는 오리지널(Original)이라는 뜻이란다.

아몰랑모야 뭔지는 잘모르겠는데 그냥 막 오리지널이래자나히히 모야 있어보여 그냥달라보여!도수도 막 60도래!!그냥막

좋아보여!???

아마 아벨라워 아부나흐는 위스키를 접하면서 혀가 절여지기 시작하는 위친자들은 한번씩은 건드려보는 cs제품이 아닐까

싶다.

실제로 접해보면 정말 오리지널스러운 강려크한 도수를 바탕으로 맛좋은 셰리와 스파이시, 약한 시트러스와 건과류등이

느껴지는 멋깔나고 맛깔나는 위스키다.

마시기전엔 뜨헉!? 60도!???

하지만 한모금 마셔보면,

음??마실만한드응아아아아아식도가뜨거워여선생님!!!근데맛있어여!!근데 뜨거워여!!근데 맛있어여!!하게된다.

한잔 따라놓으면 주변의 공기까지 달달하게 물들이는 느낌도 듬.

날 추울땐 힙플라스크에 아부나흐 담아서 홀짝 거리고 돌아댕기고 싶다고 생각한적도 있다. 술난로...?

단점이라면, 셰리나 스파이시 텍스쳐가 강한편이라 복합적인 다른 맛을 찾아내기 힘들다. 직관적이고 단조로움.

그리고 아벨라워를 떠올리면 아부나흐 말고는 딱히 떠오르거나 당기는게 없다.

개인적으로는 아벨라워 18년 보다 그냥 아부나흐가 더 입에 맞다.
물타기 실험
처음 뚜따로 마시거나 스파이시함이 많이 걸리적거린다 싶으면 피펫을 이용해서 물을 2~3회 주입해서 마시는걸 추천한

다.

직접실험해봤었는데,

동일한 잔 = 리델 비늄 꼬냑 헤네시

동일한 술 = 아벨라워 아부나흐 배치 74

동일한 양 = 1oz,지거사용

변수는 한쪽 잔에만 상온에 보관했던 삼다수를 피펫을 이용해서 2~3회 물 주입 및 시간차가 거의 없이 시음.

솔직히 물의 효과를 처음으로 크게 느껴본 실험이였다.

우선은 맛과 향이 더 활짝 열리는 느낌.

알콜 부즈를 눌러주면서 맛을 끌어올리는 효과가 있는듯 했다.

노즈에서는 알콜 튀는 향이 좀 죽는다 싶은 정도 였지만 팔렛에서 아부나흐 속에 숨었던 캐릭터들이 자기주장을 더 강하고

골고루 펼치는 느낌이 든다.

난 상대적으로 둔한 편인데도 내가 느낄 정도의 차이라 신기할 따름이였다.

전체적으로 빠르게 좋은 방향으로 에어레이션을 시켜주는 느낌을 받았다.

고도수의 그 날것의 느낌을 오롯이 느끼고 싶고 물부어마실거면 CS왜 사묵니!!하는 사람이 아니라면 추천해봄.(아부나흐

ABERLOUR A'BUNADH Batch 75

When you do whisky corkage, you MUST bring a CS!!!!

Label signatures and batch numbers that look like they were written out by hand one by one.

The bottle is subtly classic and round, with a big mouth that makes you want to pour it out generously, and the stopper is big too, which somehow makes it look even classier.
And the name isn't one of those Glen-whatever-whatevers that are a dime a dozen in the single malt world - it's Aberlour.

On top of that, A'bunadh is a CS release, and maybe that's why - apparently A'bunadh means 'Original'.

Dunno-what's-that, I don't really get it, but they say it's ORIGINAL hehe, wow it looks so fancy, it just looks different! And the ABV is like 60%!! It just looks awesome!???

I'd guess Aberlour A'bunadh is a CS bottle that every whisky nut whose tongue has started to get pickled gives a go at least once.

When you actually try it, it's a stylish, tasty whisky: on top of a truly 'original', mighty ABV, you get delicious sherry, spice, a light citrus, and dried fruit and nuts.

Before drinking: Whoa!? 60%!???

But after one sip,

you end up going: Hmm?? This is actually drinkable, heyyyAAAAAHHH my esophagus is on fire, doctor!!! But it's delicious!! But it's hot!! But it's delicious!!

Pour a glass and it feels like it tints even the air around it sweet.

When it's cold out, I've even thought about filling a hip flask with A'bunadh and wandering around taking little sips. A booze heater...?

The downside is that the sherry and the spicy texture are on the strong side, so it's hard to pick out other, more complex flavors. Intuitive and one-dimensional.

Also, when I think of Aberlour, nothing besides A'bunadh really comes to mind or tempts me.

Personally, A'bunadh suits my palate better than Aberlour 18.
The watering experiment
If you're drinking it right after opening, or if the spiciness is getting in the way, I recommend adding 2-3 drops of water with a pipette.

I actually tested it myself:

Same glass = Riedel Vinum Cognac Hennessy

Same spirit = Aberlour A'bunadh Batch 74

Same amount = 1oz, measured with a jigger

The variable: in one glass only, I added 2-3 drops of room-temperature Samdasoo water with a pipette, then tasted both with almost no time gap.

Honestly, it was the first experiment where I really felt the effect of water in a big way.

First of all, the flavor and aroma felt like they opened up more.

It seemed to hold down the alcohol booze while bringing the flavor up.

On the nose, the difference was about the level of the sharp alcohol note calming down a bit, but on the palate it felt like the characters hiding inside A'bunadh stepped forward and asserted themselves more strongly and more evenly.

I'm relatively insensitive to this stuff, so it was amazing that the difference was big enough for even me to notice.

Overall, it felt like it quickly aerated the whisky in a good direction.

Unless you're someone who wants to fully experience that raw, high-proof character and says 'If you're gonna add water, why buy CS in the first place!!', I'd recommend giving it a try. (For A'bunadh only)

It was a good experience!
