아드벡 코리브레칸

찬바람 불땐 따뜻한 피트 한잔이 여유가 되지!😛

아드벡 코어레인지 제품중에서 가장 애정하는 코리브레칸으로 겨울 잘 맞이하는중.

코리브레칸은 아일라섬 북쪽에 있는 유명한 소용돌이의 이름.
여기서 브레칸이란 옛날 아일라 공주와 사랑에 빠진 바이킹 왕자 브레칸이 자신의 사랑을 증명하기 위해 배를 타고 소용돌이 위에서 버티다 결국 죽었다는 이야기에서 따왔다고 한다.🥲

그래서 그런가 홈페이지에 보면 제품 설명에,

Not for the faint-hearted.
(겁쟁이에겐 적합하지 않다.)

맞나 모르겠지만 대충 그런 의미에 문구가 적혀있다.

그만큼이나 정말 이름처럼 소용돌이 치는 강하고,다양하고,직설적인 맛과 향을 가진 제품.🥹

노즈에서 으레 느껴지는 피트, 스모크, 그리고 달달함.

팔렛은 약간의 맵싹함과 바닷물이 살짝 묻어있는 해초류, 그리고 안어울릴거같으면서도 너무 잘어울리는 견과류스로운 고소함.

끝으로 강한 피트 겉을 감싸고 도는 아주 옅은 초콜렛의 기운.

이 모든것들이 강한 피트감에 매몰되지 않고 굉장히 잘 어우러진다.

분명 10년이나 위비스티 만큼의 피트감이 존재하지만 막상 피트를 시러하는 사람들에게도 통할 법한 아드벡이 아닌가싶다.

맛있게 잘먹고있고 올 겨울도 잘 지내보자~😁

When the cold wind blows, a warm glass of peat is a little luxury!😛

Welcoming winter in style with Corryvreckan, my favourite of Ardbeg's core range.

Corryvreckan is the name of a famous whirlpool north of Islay.
The "Vreckan" part apparently comes from the tale of Breacan, a Viking prince who fell in love with an Islay princess and, to prove his love, held his boat over the whirlpool until he finally died.🥲

Maybe that's why the product description on the website says,

Not for the faint-hearted.
(i.e. not for scaredy-cats.)

Not sure if I've got it exactly right, but it's roughly that kind of phrase.

True to its name, it really is a whirlpool of strong, varied and in-your-face flavours and aromas.🥹

On the nose, the usual peat, smoke, and sweetness.

The palate brings a little spicy kick, seaweed with a touch of seawater still on it, and a nutty richness that seems like it wouldn't fit but fits perfectly.

Lastly, a very faint hint of chocolate wrapping around the outside of the strong peat.

All of these come together really well without getting buried under the heavy peat.

It definitely has as much peat as the 10 or the Uigeadail, but I think it's an Ardbeg that might actually work even for people who don't like peat.
