글렌드로낙 오드 투 더 다크

재작년말쯤 드로낙의 마스터블렌더 레이첼베리 누나의 엔솔로지 컬렉션 라인업으로 Ode to the Velly / Embers / Dark 3종이 출시 됐었다.
출시 초반엔 수입사의 유통전략?기획? 이였겠지만, 3종 중 개인적으로 가장 기대됐던 다크 시리즈는 개별 판매를 거의하지 않았고 다른 두 종과 묶음 상품으로만 많이 판매를 했었어서 괜히 구매하기 꺼렸었는데 시간이 조금 지나 그간 뜨거웠던 위스키 붐이 꺼져가는 탓인지 26년 현재는 다크만 따로 판매하는곳도 많아진듯하다.
아마 수입사가 정책을 바꿨겠지...?😅
그래서 어렵지 않게 이 시기를 기다렸다 낼름 구매.😁

오피셜 라인 대비 케이스부터 음각으로 화려한 문양들이 새겨져있어 뭔가 더 스페셜한 느낌.
최근 리뉴얼된 구린 글렌드로낙 오피셜 패키지들 보단 나은듯.

잔에 따라보면 NAS에 네츄럴 컬러임을 고려해도 갱장히 찐한편.

노즈에선 초반의 부즈만 걷어내면 설탕 끓인 듯한 단내가 폴폴 난댜. 드로낙 특유의 케잌냄새는 약한지만 달큰한 셰리 킁킁.

팔렛은 약한 초콜렛과 말린베리류가 주를 이루는것 같다.
맛있는 PX느낌
케이스에는 벨벳질감의 부드러운 에스프레소가 있다고는 하는데 천천히 한병 다마셔가지만 그 느낌은 잘 캐치가 안된다.
50도가 넘는 도수에서 오는 둔감함 또는 마비인듯ㅋㅋ

피니쉬는 노즈나 팔렛에서 기대된것 만큼 이어지지 않는편이지만 오히려 피니쉬에서 약간의 초코케잌 느낌이 있다.

이게 정확하게 얼마에 들인건지 기억이 잘 안나지만 대충 10만원 중반대 였던것 같은데 그정도 가격이면 또 사마실법함.

다만, 이 컬렉션의 다른 2종은 그렇게 기대가 되진않음.

최애 드로낙이 리뉴얼을 기점으로 여러 변화가 느껴지는데 그저 응원만 하겠습니다.

Around the end of the year before last, GlenDronach's master blender Big Sis Rachel Barrie released three expressions under the Anthology Collection line-up: Ode to the Valley / Embers / Dark.
Early on - probably the importer's distribution strategy? planning? - the Dark, which was personally the one I was most looking forward to out of the three, was barely sold on its own and mostly only came bundled with the other two, so I kind of held off on buying it. But a bit of time has passed, and maybe because the whisky boom that was so hot has been cooling off, now in 2026 it seems like plenty of places sell the Dark on its own.
I guess the importer changed its policy...?😅
So I waited for this moment and snapped it up without much trouble.😁

GlenDronach The Master's Anthology Ode to the Dark.

Compared to the official line, even the case is engraved with fancy patterns, so it feels a bit more special.
Definitely nicer than GlenDronach's recently renewed, kinda lame official packaging.

Pour it into a glass and, even considering it's NAS and natural colour, it's seriously dark.

On the nose, once you get past the initial booze, there's a sweet aroma wafting up like boiling sugar. GlenDronach's signature cake smell is on the weaker side, but sweet sherry - sniff sniff.

The palate seems to be mainly light chocolate and dried berries.
A tasty PX vibe.
The case says there's a smooth, velvety espresso in there, but I'm slowly working my way through the whole bottle and I still can't really catch it.
Must be the numbness - or paralysis - that comes from an ABV over 50% lol

The finish doesn't carry on as much as the nose and palate had me hoping, but if anything there's a bit of chocolate cake in the finish.

I can't exactly remember how much I paid for this, but I think it was somewhere in the mid-100,000 won range, and at that price I'd happily buy it again.

That said, I'm not all that excited about the other two in this collection.

I can feel a lot of changes in my favourite, Dronach, ever since the renewal, but I'm just going to keep cheering them on.
