발베니 18년 PX 캐스크

특히나 향이 좋은 위스키들은 첫 뚜따 하는 순간에 대번 퍼져나오는 향만으로도 기분이 좋아짐을 느낄수 있는데,
발베니 18년 px도 첫 뚜따부터 기분좋은 한잔이 될 것임을 직감할 수 있다.
비록 풀셰리는 아니지만, 발베니가 표현하는 그 특유의 바닐라와 꿀 느낌에 px를 디립다 끼얹은 느낌이 코로 전해짐.
밸런스가 별로라는 평도 봤지만, 난 아님.
발베니 아이덴티티를 녹여낸 px셰리 제품으로 꽤 잘 표현된듯싶다.

노즈에서는 약간의 스파이시와 달달한 셰리, 약한 시트러스,
팔렛에서는 굉장히 포도포도하고 달큰하지만 의외로 뒷맛은 살짝 씁쓰름한데 이마져도 나쁘지않음.
피니쉬는 발베니스러운 바닐라와 약간의 후추느낌때문인지 혀끝에서 여운이 많이 남는다.

잔체적으로 발베니식 PX 맛집같은 너낌이다.
48.7%지만 과함은 없다.
첫 뚜따라면 한잔을 20분정도의 여유를 두고 마시는것을 추천.

발베니를 좋아한다면, 아직 경험해보지 않았다면, 면세점에서보인다면, 지나치지 말고 한번은 사마셔보길.
근데 면세로만 사시길....
리쿼샵가격에 살 정도는 아니아니아니야!!😇😇😇

With whiskies that have an especially great nose, you can feel your mood lift just from the aroma that bursts out the instant you first open the bottle,
and with the Balvenie 18 PX too, from the very first opening you can sense it's going to be a feel-good dram.
It's not a full sherry, but it comes across on the nose as Balvenie's signature vanilla and honey with PX drizzled generously all over it.
I've seen reviews saying the balance is off, but not for me.
I think it's a pretty well-executed PX sherry release with the Balvenie identity melted right into it.

On the nose: a little spice, sweet sherry, faint citrus.
On the palate: very grape-grapey and sweet, but surprisingly the aftertaste is slightly bitter, and even that isn't bad.
The finish, maybe thanks to the Balvenie-style vanilla and a slight peppery note, leaves a long echo on the tip of the tongue.

Overall it feels like a Balvenie-style PX specialty joint.
It's 48.7%, but nothing is overdone.
If it's freshly opened, I recommend giving each dram about 20 minutes before drinking.

If you like Balvenie, if you haven't tried it yet, and if you spot it at duty free, don't walk past it. Buy one and try it at least once.
But only buy it duty free....
It's not worth it at liquor store prices, no no nooo!! 😇😇😇
